Providing personal care to the patient. Household tasks are never more important than patient needs.
Task A (first)
Provide a bed bath Task B (second): Wash soiled bed linens (important but not as urgent as the bath)
Task C (third)
Sweep and mop kitchen floor
If soap and hot water are unavailable
Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
WASH ORDER
Always clean from clean to dirty areas. Toilet is washed LAST.
MODEL BEHAVIOR
Encourage family members to pick up after themselves by modeling the behavior yourself.
Fall prevention
Wet floors must be dry and marked off before anyone enters; loose rugs, cords, and clutter must be addressed
